Unsure of how you feel about it, but I’m totally on board with the 90s style revival.
It brought me back to my childhood when I saw all these trends making a comeback! Bollywood actresses of that era wore these trends and popularised them among the public. So many of us tried to copy the outfits we saw on screen on our favourite Bollywood heroines, because fashion and Bollywood go hand in hand. All these familiar trends are making a comeback, so I decided to take a trip down memory lane to see what I remembered. See how our Hollywood stars wore these current trends back in the ’90s.
WHAT IS A RETRO STYLE SAREES?
It has been a long discussion about retro style, but what exactly is it? Retro refers to the style that was popular from the 1950s to the 1990s. Checks, abstract geometric pattern, winged eyeliners, hair bands, and ruffles are the hallmarks of retro style.
As different as night and day is the difference between the terms vintage and retro. Authentic clothing or products from the 20s to the 80s are referred to as vintage items. Vintage refers to something that is old and authentic.
As opposed to this, retro is a more refined version of the older style. Although not original, they have a contemporary twist. Looking backwards is referred to as “retrospectus,” which is derived from Latin. In essence, retro is a comeback and a redux of a previously popular fashion trend.

In the 1970s and 1980s, bare shoulders were all the rage, especially during the flower power era. And it’s back with a bang this time around. One shoulder, cut-out shoulders, and off-shoulder styles are all making a comeback.
It-girl Alia Bhatt has been spotted rocking the bare shoulder trend. Badrinath Ki Dulhania will also feature her in a red shoulder-cutout choli, which she wears with a beautiful Navratri lehenga. They all seem to be fans of this look!
These designs can be found in evening gowns, Indo-Western dress outfits, partywear sarees, crop tops, cholis for lehengas, and palazzo suits. Even though it’s super trendy, this is not an office-appropriate look.
Versatile Prints
Prints have a timeless quality. They really never went out of style, but they did lose a little ground to weaves, embroideries, and textures in the battle of the styles. Prints are making a major comeback, which is a good thing. Simple, breezy prints that are also more practical and convenient are back in style, thanks to the reversal of retro trends. Several B-town beauties, such as Sonakshi and Sharddha, were spotted wearing festive lehengas that featured prints.
Only prints on a stylish, posh outfit might seem like too much work to you. Instead, try adding some embellishment over the prints. Embarrassment does not have to be metallic or blingy. In addition to the trend of matching colours, innovative embellishments such as ribbon flowers and fabric buttons are also in vogue.. Beautiful, earthy beige retro style sarees embellished with dreamy fabric embellishments is a great place to start.
